Yesterday (Monday) we stayed put and after breakfast we
walked up into Ellesmere port shopping centre, there are quite a few shops so
we had a wander around and there is an indoor market which was good and also a
huge Asda and an Aldi.
We did some shopping and then headed back to the boat. After lunch, we had another wander around the
boat Museum, it is a really good place with lots to see. We had a nice afternoon looking around and
then just chilled out in the evening.
Leaving the Lower Basin |
In the Bottom Lock |
Going from one lock to the next |
In the Top Lock |
Today, we are on the move and it was another glorious sunny
warm day as we chugged out of the lower basin, past the Holiday Inn and into
the bottom lock. I went on ahead and got
the lock ready for Kev. Soon up the
first lock and into the second one and then we were back up by the Museum. We stopped outside to fill up with water.
Then we chugged off leaving Ellesmere Port behind us. It is a really nice place to moor and we
enjoyed going down into the lower basin as it is very peaceful down there.

Under the M56 |
We went on for a couple of miles and moored up by Bridge 141
to go to the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.
It is less than a 10 minute walk from the canal and there is also a
Sainsburys there.
We walked up the road and was soon in the outlet. There are many shops here, mostly designer
labels and it is really good as it has been done in a circle so you can walk
all the way around and eventually you will end up where you started.
Lots of Weed in the Canal |
We had a good wander around and stopped for a sandwich and a
coffee at one of the many cafes then made our way back to where we started and
walked back to the canal.
We then chugged on a couple more miles to the Zoo moorings
as it is a really nice place to moor. The canal is quite weedy as not many boats use this stretch.
We are staying here tonight then back to Chester basin
tomorrow.
