Day Trip to Chester

Chester Eastgate Clock
Chester Shopping Street
We are off to Chester today on the bus so we walked up to the stop and soon we were in Chester.

Chester Rows
Having coffee in the Rows
We walked along the canal and then into the shops.  Chester is a lovely old city with lots of alleyways and shops above the shops with a walkway called The Rows.  We went up there and had a coffee at one of the cafes.  It’s great sitting up there almost in secret looking down on everyone.

Inside Chester Cathedral
Chester Cathedral
We went to the Cathedral  and had a look around. There was an exhibition inside, of Sculptures and some Taxidermy, I wasn't sure about some of that, especially a stuffed cat and another cat in a suitcase!  The Cathedral is massive and really lovely, although it took us ages to find the way out!

Our lunch
Fred Flintstone's Lunch!
We then had a walk around the shops and then went down to the river where Hickorys Smokehouse is located and we went there for lunch.  It is an American Smokehouse and they do fabulous ribs, Fred Flintstone would have loved them, they were huge.  I then had churros and chocolate sauce for dessert, yum yum.

We then went up on the walls and walked along there past the Albion pub which is a very old pub just off the walls and they have a great sign on the wall.

We walked along to the Falconery which wasn’t here the last time we visited Chester.  We didn’t have time to visit today but we will do when we bring the boat down into Chester.

We walked back to the canal and had a coffee by the waterside.

We then got the bus back to Christleton.  It has been a bit rainy today on and off but dried up this evening.

We are staying here tonight then off down five locks into Chester tomorrow and the forecast is for rain, great can’t wait!!
