Audlem (Locks 13 & 14) to Coole Pilate Leisure Area (Shropshire Union Canal)

Yesterday (Saturday) we had a walk into the village and did a cache, we managed to find the clues but couldn’t find the final cache, never mind you can’t find them all!

We went back to the boat and Malc called round with Harry and we had a cup of tea with Malc while Harry explored the boat.  He is coming to stay with us in September while they go on holiday so we wanted to show him his new surroundings, he is such a lovely little dog and is not fazed by much.  Malc and Harry then carried on with their walk and we had our lunch.

Mid-afternoon, we walked up to Jane and Malcs and as it was a lovely sunny afternoon, we sat in the garden drinking Prosecco.  Dave and Anthea came round as well as they are off to the Party in the Park which is in Audlem this evening.  We decided not to go this year, we have been before as it is 80s music not my favourite and also we are coming back at the end of the month for the Vintage Day which is also held in Audlem so we will all have a day together then.

We said bye to Jane, Malc, Harry, Anthea and Dave, it has been lovely seeing them and spending time together as always, but we will see them again at the end of the month so we will look forward to that.  We went back to the boat and just chilled out.  We watched the firework display which they had after the music finished and it was spectacular.  They were set off in the field below us and so they went off right over our heads, amazing.

Bye Bye Audlem

Today we are on the move and finally leaving Audlem .  We have two locks to do and so we chugged off from our mooring and into the first one.  A boat had just come out so it was ready for us.

Soon through there and onto the next one where a boat was also coming out, an easy passage today.

This lock is the last lock in the Audlem flight, so now we have done all fifteen of them.  We left the last lock leaving Audlem behind us, but beware Audlem Family, we will be back!

We chugged on along the canal and moored up at Coole Pilate Leisure Area.  It is a lovely spot here.

We are staying here tonight then off to Nantwich tomorrow.
