Day Trip to York

Wednesday 12th July

Ashely and Finley
Ashley and Isabel
We are off to York today by train to meet my nephew Ashley, his girlfriend Katie, my great-nephew Finley and my great-niece Isabel.  We haven’t seen them since last year and we haven’t met Katie yet as she was only born in March, so really looking forward to seeing them all.

Do you want a chip

We walked to the train station which was about a 10 minute walk from where we are moored.  We got on the train and it set off on time.  We were on there for about an hour and a half then had to change at Manchester.  Our train journey to York from Manchester was another hour and a half.
Me and Isabel
Get your nashers round that!

We came out of the station at York and they were there to meet us.  It was lovely to see them and Finley was only 10 months old when we saw him last and he is now almost two and he had grown so much and is running around now.  Isabel was adorable, really sweet.

Playing in the park
Story time for Isabel
We walked into the city and found a pub to have some lunch.  Kev and Ashley had a huge burger stack and it also came with a side of Mac and Cheese!  Katie and I had normal size meals!  We had a lovely lunch chatting and catching up.  Finley is such a happy little boy smiling and laughing all the time and Isabel was really good as well and we did get a few smiles from her.
All of us in the park

Catch me if you can!
After lunch we wandered around the shops then headed to Museum Park and we played bubbles and Finley ran around, we had such a lovely time playing.  Isabel sat on Ashley’s lap and had a story.
We then walked back to the shops and went for a coffee.

Gin Shop
Then it was time for Ashley, Katie, Finley and Isabel to go home as they have about an hour or so journey back home.  We said our goodbyes but hopefully we will see them again soon.  We had such a lovely time, I enjoyed every minute.

York Minster
Kev and I then had a wander around the Shambles which is the old part of York, little shopping streets and we came across a shop selling just gin, I think this is the largest selection of gins we have seen.  Unfortunately the lad in the shop was more interested in being on his tablet then interested in selling any gins.  We had a look around but didn’t buy anything this time, didn’t want to buy anything from someone who wasn’t interested in selling.
The Shambles

We had a walk around the outside of York Minster then went down to the river and sat there for a while until  it was time to get our train back to Chester.

We got back to the boat about 10pm, it was a long day but brilliant, I had such a great time seeing my nephew and his family and we had fun together.  We are staying here again tomorrow then chugging off on Friday.
