Perfect Bench to admire the views
Sun Trevor Pub
Sunday – we are staying put today so just went for a walk along the canal to where there is lovely views over the valley and sat on a bench there admiring the view.  We also did a few caches on the way.  On the way back, we walked off the canal, over the bridge and up the road to the Sun Trevor pub.  It has nice views as it is quite high up.  It is a nice pub and the food looked good but we just had a drink this time.  We then just chilled out on the boat.

Monday – We are on the move today, it was a sunny day but quite windy.  We set off along the canal under a few bridges and the scenery was still nice as we chugged along.  After a few miles, we were approaching Trevor Basin which is right near the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct but we are leaving that delight for tomorrow!

We turned into the Basin and went down the arm, past the hire boat base which was full of boats, under a low bridge.  We then turned around, there are two small arms here, one is for the trip boats and the other is moorings, so once we had turned around, we reversed into the moorings and tied up.  This is a lovely area and very busy with tourists.  Where we are moored is the Ruabon arm and was originally going to be the main line towards Chester.  However the idea of a direct line to Chester was soon dropped and a connection made instead with the Chester canal at Hurleston Junction and so this arm is a dead end but makes a great secret mooring.

We walked up to the visitor centre where there is a shop and a small museum with information and a video showing how the aqueduct was built, it was very interesting.

We then walked up over the foot bridge and up the road to where there was a cafĂ© in an old chapel, it was lovely as they have kept a lot of the features of the chapel.  We had a coffee and Welsh Rarebit with chips then walked back to the boat.

Later in the afternoon, we went out again.  We got a can of diesel from the hire place and found out that was rubbish disposal there and also an Elsan point in the car park.  We took the diesel back to the boat and then walked up to the Telford Inn, which is right by the canal and had a drink then went back to the boat.  We are staying here tonight then early tomorrow morning we are off over the might Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, let’s hope its not windy!
