Visits to Dobbies Garden Centre & Nuneaton

Monday 2nd July

Dobbies Garden Centre
Today we are off to Dobbies Garden Centre which is about a 10 minute walk away.  It is listed as one of the biggest garden centres in the UK and also has Plantasia which is a visitor attraction and has five permanent mazes, a tree top walk, lake and other walks, there is a charge to go in and has a separate entrance from the garden centre.
Food Hall & Butchers

We walked along the road, it is quite busy but there was a grass verge so we could get up on there if we needed to.  We soon came to Dobbies and in we went. There is a large food hall with its own butchers and lots of plants, garden furniture, gifts, etc.

We had a good wander around, it was really nice.  There is a nice restaurant so we had some lunch there, they do two main meals for £12 and it was very good.

Fruit & Veg Stall
We did go and have a look at where Plantasia was and it looked good but you really needed to spend a day there so we will do that another time.

Also outside the garden centre was a fruit and vegetable stall.  We went back inside and bought a few things from the butchers.  Also when we were wandering around, we noticed that they sell Laithwaites wine, well Kev’s favourite from them is Black Stump but you can only buy it from them and he was in luck, they had it there so obviously he had to buy a bottle, that made him happy!

We walked back to the boat with our purchases.  It was a good place to visit.  We then just chilled out as it was hot again.

Tuesday 3rd July

Today we are off to Nuneaton on the bus as Kev needs some things from Tool Station and we also need a bit of shopping.

Nuneaton
Nuneaton
The bus stop was not far from the boat up on the bridge and they run every 20 minutes, so a good service.  The bus soon came and on we got, they are gold buses with leather seats and even have USB charges in the back of the seats, very posh.

After about 20 minutes we were at Nuneaton.  We first walked to the Tool Station which wasn’t far away and then we wandered around the shops, there was two shopping centres and plenty of other shops.  We got the shopping we needed then headed to the bus station to get the bus back.

We walked back to the boat and then had some lunch.  In the afternoon we did a few jobs then chilled out.  We are staying here again tonight then off tomorrow morning.
