Bridge 22 to Stoke Golding (near Bridge 27 - Ashby Canal

We are on the move today only a mile or so, not too far though!

Setting off from our Mooring
Ashby Canal Company
Under another Bridge
Patrick went first and we followed, we went under Bridges 22 and 23 and on along the canal, we wanted to stop at the Ashby Boat Company to use their facilities but their pontoon was full with their days boats getting ready to go out, so we went under the bridge and moored up there.  We walked down to the boat yard to get rid of rubbish and use their Elsan. It is a really friendly place.

Patrick setting off again
Pat and I went for another visit to Tomlinson’s Farm Shop to get a few more things, its such a good shop, we will definitely be calling in there again on the way back.

We then set off again along the canal, past the Ashby Canal Centre and Marina and moored not far from there before we got to Bridge 27.  Mind you, we went past all the nice straight places to moor and Patrick pulled in on the bend, so we both pulled our boats back to the straight bit and tied up there.

We had lunch then chilled out for a bit.  Then late afternoon Kev and I went for a walk up to Bridge 27, got on the footpath which took us up to the village of Stoke Golding.  We walked up to the shop to get an ice-cream then sat on a bench near the footpath with a view of the canal.

Cows coming back from milking
Footpath Marker
We walked back through the field and just got to the stile when a long line of cows started coming into the field, I think they had just been milked.  I was glad we were just going out of the field, mind you they didn't take any notice of us, they just headed for the green grass!

The footpaths are very well marked in Leicestershire, they have a wooden post which is painted yellow so you can see it across the field, really good as sometimes you go on a footpath but can't see where the path goes.

We are staying here tonight and possibly tomorrow then going on a bit further.
