Ornate Bridge at Salt |
It
was rather overcast and breezy this morning when we got up. We had breakfast then set off along the canal. We soon came to Salt and under the lovely
ornate bridge and on along the canal.

In Sandon Lock |
After
a couple of miles, we came to Sandon lock.
It was full so I emptied it and opened the gates and Kev and Harry
brought the boat in. I shut the gates
and filled up the lock.

Two Pals Together |
Unfortunately
there were no boats coming so we shut the gates behind us and went on our way.
We
chugged on around the corner under bridge 84 and moored in a lovely open spot between
that bridge and bridge 85.

Nice Cottages by the Pond |
We
had lunch then went out for a walk. We
walked up to bridge 85 and took the lane up to the village of Burston, a very
small village with a village pond and some old cottages.

The Greyhound Inn |
There
was a small church which was at the back of a row of cottages and also hidden
and you had to go down a path at the side of the first cottage to get into the
church, very unusual. We went in the
church which was built in 1859 and was licensed as a mission church and also
served as the local school. We had a
look around, it was very nice inside.

Many Geese in the Field |
We
then had a walk around the village pond and walked up to the village pub, The
Greyhound.
We
walked back to the pond, then took the footpath which led back to bridge 86 then
walked back down the towpath to the boat.
We
are staying here tonight then off to Stone tomorrow.
