Burston to Great Haywood - Trent & Mersey Canal

We are on the move today but only a few miles so we had a late start and chugged off mid morning.
under another bridge we go
Waiting at Sandon Lock
We went under a couple of bridges and then came to Sandon lock, there was a boat going down and nothing coming up, so when they had gone out, we shut the gates and filled up the lock and then down we went.

In Sandon Lock
Round The Bend We Go
Going Under Salt Bridge
We chugged on along the canal, under the lovely bridge at Salt and then onto Weston Upon Trent where we stopped off to buy some eggs from the house by the canal and then we went on our way and soon came to Weston lock.  There was a boat going down in front of us and a boat waiting to come up so we helped out at the lock and then it was our turn.  Another boat turned up to go down behind us and it was called Avalon Two, they do a blog and I have read it a few times, it was nice to meet them.
Coming into Weston Lock

We went on along the canal and was going to moor before the next lock, but the moorings were under trees and dark, we didn't fancy them so we went on and then came to Hoo Mill lock, the boat in front of us was just going through so soon it was our turn and down we went and chugged on for a bit, past Great Haywood marina and moored up just past there before bridge 75 and the junction.

At Hoo Mill Lock
Going Down  Hoo Mill Lock
We did over five miles today and three locks today, we haven't done that much in a day for months, what were we thinking of!

We went out for a walk in the afternoon down to the junction and walked up to the Spar shop for some milk then went into the farm shop for a look around and a few goodies, had a coffee in the cafe then back to the boat.

We are staying here tonight then off down to Wolseley bridge tomorrow.
