Fradley (Top of Locks) - Trent & Mersey Canal to Whittington (Bridge 81) - Coventry Canal

Tuesday 16th October

Coming into Fradley Top Lock
Out He Comes
It was dry and bright when we got up this morning so we had breakfast then untied and moved along to the top of the locks.  We have two locks to go down this morning.  There was a boat moored nearer the locks than us and they untied first so they went through and a boat came up and then it was our turn.
Fradley Junction

Coming Through Swing Bridge

We were soon through the lock and there was another boat waiting to come up so we left the gates open and went on to the next lock and they had left the gates open for us so I walked to the lock and Kev took the boat in.
Autumn is on its way

We were soon down the lock and out Kev came and we left the gates open as another boat was waiting to come up.
Quiet Canal Today

Passing Huddlesford Junction
Coming to Streethay Wharf
Post Office Delivery Cart in Village
I walked down to the junction, this is where the Trent & Mersey canal meets the Coventry canal.  There is a swing bridge which leads to the Coventry canal so I opened the bridge and Kev came through.  I shut the bridge and we moored up at the water point.  There are two taps but one was broken so we had a bit of a wait as another boat was filling up.  Eventually it was our turn and we filled the tank then went on our way past Streethay wharf and Huddlesford Junction and moored up in a lovely open sunny spot before Whittington where we have moored before.
Under Another Bridge

We had lunch then walked up to the small village where there is a Co-op and a couple of pubs.
We are staying here now for a couple of days then moving a bit further on Friday.
