Lovely morning on the Macc |
|
Passing Clarence Mill |
After all the rain we had yesterday, it was lovely to see
the sun shining when we got up this morning and just as well as we are moving
on today.
We had breakfast then set off along the canal, it was very
quiet and we only met a couple of boats.
We chugged on and after a while we were going past Clarence Mill, across
Bollington Aqueduct and then past Adelphi Mill where we moored on the way up the
canal.

Lovely ceiling in the Town Hall |
We went on for a few miles and then we were approaching
Macclesfield. There is not much mooring
at Macclesfield, there are some pontoons but these are usually full but to our
surprise there was a space on the far end of the pontoons so we moored up
there.
We had lunch then walked up into the town and the Town Hall was open so we went inside to have a look, it is a really impressive building inside and out. Also there is a lovely bell on display which is from ship that had ties with Macclesfield, the HMS Teazer.
We then had a look
around the shops then went to Aldi for a few things then walked back to the
boat.

Town Hall |
We are staying here now until Sunday. Tomorrow we are going to the Silk Museum
which should be good and on Sunday there is a big market called the Treacle
Market which is held once a month so we are going to stay for that then chug on
Sunday afternoon, weather permitting of course!
