Hawkesbury Junction to Springwood Haven - Coventry Canal

Passing the Old Engine House
Going down to the Junction
Turning at the Junction
What a Ramshackle Place!
The Dry Dock!

We are on the move today and it was dry today and the sun was shining as we set off.  We stopped at the water point to fill up, then down to the junction and Kev turned the boat around and we headed back up the canal, past the old engine house and on along the canal.

We are going seven miles today, wow a long way for us.  We passed a few boats coming the other way.
Going through Nuneaton

Passing the Lovely Ashby Canal
We went through Bedworth and past a boatyard called Charity Dock, what a ramshackle place and they were advertising a dry dock for hire, but god knows how you would get to it!

We went past the junction with the lovely Ashby canal and on along the canal through Nuneaton which is not the best place to go through and after another mile or so, we moored up in a lovely spot just before Springwood Haven Marina.
Bridge 25 Used to be Here!

Springwood Haven Marina
We had lunch then went out for a walk and did a couple of caches.  We then walked over to the marina and had a look in the shop and had an ice-cream sat by the canal.  We then walked back to the boat and I made Cauliflower Cheese for tea.

Mount Judd
Where we are moored there is a huge mound in the distance, it is called Mount Judd and is a mountain of waste, built with spoil from the old Judkins Quarry.

We are staying here tonight and also tomorrow then going on a bit further on Sunday.
