Norbury Junction to Goldstone (Shropshire Union Canal)

We are on the move today, so we set off and first stopped at the services to fill up with water, get rid of rubbish, etc., then we chugged on past The Junction Inn where we had lunch yesterday and on along the canal.
Leaving Norbury Junction
Grub Street Cutting

It was very hot again today so the parts of the canal that were tree lined were very welcome this morning.

High Bridge
We soon came to Grub Street Cutting and High Bridge with a masonary strut, carrying a short telegraph pole, built across its tall arch.

The Anchor pub
We then came to High Offley where the Anchor pub is.  It is a really old fashioned pub and very small, it’s like going into someone’s front room for a drink, a great place but not stopping here today.

Passing the old Cadbury Factory
We chugged on along Shebdon Enbankment and passed the old Cadbury factory whose goods used to be carried to and from Bournville by narrowboat.
Lovely Reflections

My lovely Scampi
In the garden waiting for my lunch!
We went on a bit further and then came to Goldstone where we had planned to moor.  There are visitor moorings under the bridge opposite the pub but they were full so we moored this side of the bridge.  It was very busy here but luckily there was a space for us, not sure why its so busy, we have never seen so many boats here.

Kev's Ploughmans
We went up to the pub, The Wharf Tavern for lunch.  We sat outside in the garden by the canal and I had their homemade Scampi which is in Tempura Batter and is absolutely delicious and Kev had the ploughmans which is the best one we have found, it is enormous and you get two types of cheese and ham as well as everything else.  They are very generous with the portions in this pub and the food is of a great quality.

We then went back to the boat and sat outside in the shade for the afternoon.  We were going to go for a walk, but I don’t think that will happen today as it is just too hot.

We are moving on again tomorrow.
