Worcester Basin to Tibberton (Worcester & Birmingham Canal)

Saturday and Sunday

Our Passenger!
River Severn at Worcester
We moored at Worcester Saturday and Sunday in the basin, it was really nice.  We just chilled out and wandered around the city where there was a couple of markets so had a look around there.  We also walked along the river which was still running a little fast and was in the amber but I think it is dropping so that’s good. We bought a nice piece of pork at the market on Saturday so had a lovely roast dinner Sunday night, haven’t had one for a while, so really enjoyed it.  When we were moored up, we looked out the front of the boat and we had a passenger, a moorhen, I said to him that unfortunately we weren’t moving today and therefore he was on the wrong boat, he wasn’t pleased as he had just missed the boat in front and now would have to wait for the next one!

Monday

In first lock of the day
Getting help from CRT
Not many to go now
Hurray, last lock of the day
We are chugging off today and the sun is shining and it is nice and warm.  We set off up the canal and through the first two locks which are quite deep and then the next four locks which are quite close together and not very deep.  All these locks have steps as you go into the lock, so Kev stepped off there with a long rope, we don’t want a repeat of last time with the Gordanneus Celeste!!, and shut the off side gate and did the paddle that side while I did the tow path side, this way it saves me going back and forth from one side to the other, our system worked very well and we were soon through the next locks.  On one of them, there was a CRT chap and he kindly helped me, so Kev stayed on the boat for that one.  On through the next two locks, then we stopped for lunch and a rest, I am not used to all this exercise.  After a break, we set off again and up through the set of six Offerton locks using our method which worked very well  and soon we were at the top, that’s enough locks for one day, so we went around the corner and stopped at Tibberton.  The moorings were empty so we had the pick of the places.  It has been such a lovely sunny day today and warm for a change! We will stay here tonight, then chug off in the morning.
