Hanbury Wharf to Stoke Pound, the Queens Head pub (Worcs & Birmingham Canal)

Chugging on up the canal
Worcs & Birm & Droitwich Junction

It was dry this morning as we set off from Hanbury Wharf, the forecast said it was going to be 18o C, felt more like 8oC when we set off, but at least it is dry today!  The canal was very quiet and we only past one boat coming down.  We were soon at Astwood Bottom lock and using our new system, we were soon through there and on and through the next 5 locks which are quite close together, so that makes it easier.  We stopped at Stoke Prior to fill up with water, then on through the next six locks and soon we were at Stoke Pound where the Queens Head pub is. There are moorings opposite the pub and we planned to stop there, it was really busy, there were five or six boats there already.  We were going to squeeze on the end but further along just before the lock moorings, there was a space so we moored there.
Last lock of the day, hurray!

One down, eleven to go!
We chilled out for a bit, then we went for a walk.  On Google maps we found that there was a Morrisons and Aldi not too far away, so we went off to find them.  We went over the bridge and down past the pub and along the road for a bit, then along a foot path into an industrial estate and just through there was the supermarkets, about a 20 minute walk, so nice and easy.  We walked back to the boat and just chilled out for the rest of the day, I think we earned a rest after all those locks!  We are staying here tomorrow as well, then on Sunday, we will be tackling Tardbigge, all 29 locks, we’re looking forward to that!
