Audlem Between Locks 3 and 2 to Bridge 66 and Bridge 66 to Market Drayton - Shropshire Union Canal

Thursday 27th May

We are on the move today and it was nice to see it was dry and sunny.

We set off from our mooring to lock no. 2 which was not far away.  I walked on ahead and got the lock ready and Kev brought the boat in.  We were soon through there and on to Audlem top lock.  There were a couple of volunteers at the lock so one of them helped me.

At this lock there is a stall selling home made cakes, ice creams and cream teas to take away.  The lady who does all the cake making was there so we had a chat to her and bought some cakes.  We then went on our way.

We chugged on along the canal, under a few bridges and decided to stop overnight just after bridge 66 in a lovely remote spot, no-one walking by, no road noise and just the birds singing, lovely.

We will stay here tonight then move on to Market Drayton in the morning.

Friday 28th May

It was quite a dull morning when we got up.  We untied and set off along the canal, it was only a couple of miles to Market Drayton.

We went under a few bridges and then was approaching Market Drayton.  Most of the other traders were already in place, so we chugged past them and moored up in the spot that had been reserved for us.

Once we were moored we went and said hello to everyone.  In the afternoon we walked up into the town to do some shopping.  When we got back, we spent the afternoon and evening getting things ready for the market.

We are staying here in Market Drayton now for a while as we have the floating market this weekend then eye and foot appointments and catching up with friends next week.
