Day Out in York

We are off to York today to meet my nephew Ash, his girlfriend Katie and my Great Nephew Finley.  I am really looking forward to it as I haven’t seen Ash for quite a while and haven’t met Katie or Finley before so really excited.

We got the train from Willington and had to change at Nottingham. We got to York about 12.30pm and met the three of them outside the Railway Station.  Finley is absolutely adorable and I love him to bits already. He was very smiley and looked pleased to see us although he didn’t know who we were!

We walked down to the river and across the bridge and went for lunch at The Handmade Burger Co.  The burgers are really nice.  I had a good catch up with Ash and Katie and also had cuddles with Finley, so did Kev!

After lunch we had a walk around the shops and we bought Finley a few t-shirts and a cuddly toy and Katie a mug in the Disney Store as it is her birthday tomorrow.

We then went for a coffee sat by the River Ouse as it was a lovely sunny day.  Katie had hot chocolate and of course Finley had to try it, he thought it was yum! 

We then strolled up to the York Minster and had a look around there.  We didn’t go in as they were charging £10 each which I thought was a little steep, but it was nice to look around the outside.

By this time it was late afternoon and time for Ash, Katie and Finley to get the park and ride bus back to their car.  They live near Middlesborough so had about an hour or so drive back home.  Finley had fell asleep by this time, but he had done really well as he is only 10 months old and he was so happy all the time.  We said bye to Ash and Katie and kissed Finley and they went off to get their bus.

We had a couple of hours before our train so we had a walk around the Shambles area which is narrow streets and small shops and then we went to find the old City Walls as you can partially walk around them.

We eventually found the steps up onto the walls and had a walk around there, it was really good to do.  We then made our way back to the train station and got the train back to Willington.

We had such a lovely day with Ash, Katie and Finley.  It was great to see Ash again as I haven’t seen him for a while and to catch up and also to meet Katie, she is a lovely girl, we got on so well, and of course to meet Finley, he is so sweet and was so good and full of smiles, he melted my heart.  We had a wonderful day and I can’t wait to see them all again.
