We are staying here again today so had a lazy start. We then went for a walk. Up the towpath past the locks, there was a
boat going up the locks so we gave them a hand for a few locks. At lock 41 we went out onto the lane and
walked down there to Aston Fields, a suburb of Bromsgrove where Bromsgrove Railway
station is. We walked back up the road then took a footpath through we think
used to be fields, but is now a housing estate, through there and back on the
track alongside fields and eventually we joined a path we had walked yesterday
which took us over the railway line, along another path and eventually we came
out on the main road just before the railway bridge and The Queens Head pub. The circular walk we did was a couple of miles or so, or as Kev always say when I ask him how far, he says oh just a mile!!
Our lovely lunch |
The Queens Head |
We went into the pub as we are having lunch here today. It was quite busy but we found a table on the
terrace by the canal. Monday to Thursday
12 noon to 7pm they do 2-4-1 on pizzas, so we had that. Also for an extra £2 each you can have the
salad bar, so we had that as well. The pizzas were delicious, really fresh
ingredients with nice thin crispy bases.

We were going to have ice-cream for dessert but they only
did Joe Delucci’s Galato and there were several flavours to choose from, we had Pistachio Sicilia, Malaga and Variegate all’amarene and very nice it was
too. We also had a cheese board to
share.
Suitably full, we waddled back to the boat and chilled
out. We need to get plenty of rest today
as we are off up Tardebigge tomorrow, lets hope there is a convey of boats
coming down, but judging by how quiet the canal is, that is highly unlikely,
still never mind they are nice locks and we can put our routine to work, so
should be fun!!
You've made me hungry, reading that one!
ReplyDeleteHope you meet some boats coming down — we like doing those locks too. Have fun!
