Alvechurch to Hopwood (Worcester & Birmingham Canal)

Going under M42

It was dry today when we got up which was good as we are chugging on today, mind you only a couple of miles to Hopwood.

Going over small aqueduct
On along the canal we went, under the M42 motorway and past Lower Bittell Reservoir, this is such a nice spot but there are no visitor moorings here only long term so no place to stop which is a pity.

Passing Lower Bittell Reservoir
Along a nice straight bit of canal and around the bend and we were at Hopwood, we went past the pub, Hopwood House and moored under the bridge in the visitor moorings.

There was only one boat here when we moored up, but it filled up during the afternoon.  We had some lunch then walked down to the small garden centre which is a the bottom of a lane opposite the pub.

We are staying here tomorrow as well as the weather forecast is not great and we are only fair weather boaters these days, boating in the rain what a horrible thought!!

Moored at Hopwood

  1. It doesn't seem two minutes since we brought Smuggler to stay when you were at Hopwood last year :-)

  2. We often moor at Hopwood to allow Honor to recover from travelling through the tunnel or to prepare herself for the experience!!
