Hurleston Junction to Calveley (Shropshire Union Canal)

Tuesday 6th August

Another Bright Sunny Morning
Passing the Llangollen Canal
The sun was shining and it was already warm as we set off from our mooring.  We went under a bridge and past the junction with the Llangollen canal.

On we went and soon we were passing through Barbridge and past the Barbridge Inn which is right by the side of the canal.

We chugged on and went past the entrance to the Middlewich branch and on along the canal, under a few bridges and around a few bends and then we came to Calveley where we moored up.

Cafe by the Canal
In the afternoon, we walked back down the canal to Calveley Mill which is a café and shop selling cheese which is made next door and also selling other produce and gifts and crafts.  It is a really nice place to visit and they have their own moorings on the canal with a gate into the shop and café.

We had a coffee sat outside and bought some Calveley Crunch cheese which is delicious, then walked back to the boat.

We are staying here now for a few days as it is a nice place to moor and on Thursday we are getting the bus to Chester and on Friday we are meeting our friend’s Sheila and Tony for breakfast at the café so looking forward to that, then we will turn around, go back along the canal to the junction and head up the Middlewich Branch.
