Bridge 26 to Middlewich (Between Bridges 29 & 30) (Middlewich Branch)

Wednesday 16th August

We are moving up to the moorings  near the Middlewich Junction this morning and staying there for a couple of days.
Waiting for the lock to fill

At least it is dry again today as we set off but rather cloudy, perhaps the sun will shine later!

Out we go
We came to Stanthorne Lock which is a deep lock over 11ft.  It was empty so I filled it up and then Kev brought the boat in.  We opened the paddles and down we went.  I then opened one gate and had to climb up over the beam to get over onto the little bridge over the lock top open the gate on the other side, luckily Kev didn’t have a camera so that was a bit of luck!

That was a deep lock!
We chugged on from the lock and moored up in the visitor moorings a bit before the Junction.
Maggie Finns Tea Room
We chilled out for a bit then had a walk into town.

After we were done with the shops we went down to the canal where there is a nice tea rooms called Maggie Finns by Middlewich Narrow Boats and it has a lovely garden overlooking the canal, its almost like a secret garden as it is raised above the canal and people walking by don’t realise you are there!

We are staying here in Middlewich for a few days now.
