Nantwich to Coole Pilate - Shropshire Union Canal

Tuesday 1st to Thursday 3rd October

Lovely views today
Captain Harry
Tuesday and Wednesday we stayed put in Nantwich and did some food shopping and went for a few walks and did a few jobs.  Our batteries are now at the end of their life and not holding their charge so we need to get new ones.  There is a chap who lives in the cottage at the locks on the Llangollen canal and own the hire boats at Overwater Marina, he is a marine engineer so we ordered some batteries from him.  We arranged to meet him at Marsh Lane Bridge which is not far from where we are moored on Thursday at 9.30am.

Coming to a pipe bridge
Thursday – We got up, got ready and set off along the canal, over the aqueduct and passed the moored boats and moored up just before Marsh Lane Bridge.

Coming into the next lock
I like sitting here!
Well it got to 10.45am and no sign of the batteries being delivered so Kev gave him a ring and he said he was running late and didn’t seem sorry at all and didn’t even say how much longer he would be until Kev asked him, he then said oh at least another hour.  It came across that he wasn’t bothered about selling us the batteries so we told him we weren’t going to wait around and we cancelled the order, he just said okay, which was a pity as we were going to use him for an engine service but perhaps he would have let us down with that as well, maybe things happen for a reason.
More Bridges

Under we go
We untied and set off along the canal, under a few bridges and then came to Hack Green Locks.  There was a few boats coming down so our passage up the two locks was easy and quick as I had help from the other boaters.

Harry watching the world go by
Yes, can I help you!!
We chugged on and moored up at Coole Pilate Leisure area, this is a lovely open quiet spot to moor.

We are staying here until Saturday when we will move down to Bridge 80 by the marina.
