Ventura Retail Park to Hopwas - Brimingham & Fazeley Canal

Nice Countryside
Coming to Another Bridge

We are moving on this morning, but before we leave, we are off back up to the retail park as Kev needs to get some wood from B&Q.  We walked down the pathway from the canal and first went to Tool Station.  Kev then went to B&Q and I walked on a bit further to Sainsburys.  When I got back to B&Q, Kev was just loading up the trolley, so then we walked back to the boat, put the wood on board then set off along the canal.

That's a High Boat
It was a very warm humid morning and we met a few boats coming the other way.  We were going around a bend and coming the other way was an ex-working boat and as he was not carrying any cargo, the front was very high and all you could see was this huge bow coming towards you.  We got by him okay and on we went and soon we were approaching Hopwas and we moored up just before the bridge.

St Chad's Church
The other day we bought some tomatoes, but they weren't the best so I turned them into soup and we had that for our lunch, and it very tasty it was too, even though I say it myself!

After lunch, we went out for a walk up to the Church, St Chad's.  We almost walked by it as it looks more like a house than a church. It was open so we went in and had a look around. It is really lovely both from the outside and inside.  Outside one of the houses near the church was a great sign,

obviously whoever lives there as a sense of humour.

We then walked back down the road and kept a look out for a house that was selling freed range eggs the last time we went along this road on the bus and we found it, so we went in and bought some.
We then walked along the canal to the next bridge and down the lane and back to the boat.

We are staying here for a couple of days as tomorrow we are off to find a farm shop that Mr Google says is not too far away and then on Wednesday we go on a bit further.
