Starting to Cruise Slowly

Brewood
Half a Moon
Coming into Brewood
Avenue Bridge
From 1st June, liveaboards and continuous cruisers like us are allowed to freely move around the canals, so we moved on from our spot at Bridge 8 where we spent 40+ nights and went back to up Brewood where we had a couple of nights and we got the bus to Wolverhampton to do a big shop.  Kev went to Aldi while I did a couple of other shops.  Shopping is still very stressful and I think even more now as people don't seem to adhere to the social distancing and just walk around anywhere.  We were glad to get back to the boat!  We only do a big shop about once a month so we will have time to recover from this expedition before we have to go again!

Kev's Faggots
We then headed on up the canal to Wheaton Aston which is a village with a couple of shops and the pub there, The Hartley Arms were doing takeaway at the weekends so on the Friday night I had scampi, chips and peas and Kev had homemade faggots, peas, chips and gravy, it was really good.

Lone Mallard
Saturday was a very rainy day so we stayed put but Sunday was better and so we moved between the showers up to High Onn, a couple of miles up the canal from Wheaton Aston, we turned around as this is as far as we are going this way and then moored up.
Turnover Bridge
High Onn Wharf
We are staying here until tomorrow and then we will start our Summer trip properly going all the way back down the Shropshire Union canal and onto the Staffordshire and Worcester canal and going up to Great Haywood and then onto the Trent and Mersey canal (not all in the same day though!!)
Peacock Butterfly
Pheasant social distancing from us!

It will be nice to get going again and see new places, although we will be social distancing as much as we can, it is a lot easier on the canals as you can just moor on your own in rural places.

The photos are just some I have taken over the last week or so while we made our way from Bridge 8 up to High Onn.   The pheasant came past us when we were sitting on a log and he was very good, he kept 2 metres away from us,he was out for his daily exercise!  The two dogs are Harry and Louis, they live in Brewood and always visit us when they are out for their walk if we are moored in Brewood, they know we have biscuits!!
